Alzheimer’s Support Groups: A few places in Collin County provided Alzheimers support including Horizon Bay at Plano Assisted Living and Memory Care in Plano, the Geriatric Wellness Center of Collin County, the Plano Senior Center, and Silverado Senior Living in Plano.

Bariatric Support Group is a free class led by licensed psychologist Dr. Martin Deschner that meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 7–8:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Plano in room 215. The class provides encouragement and support regarding the challenging diet and lifestyle changes needed by those who have had bariatric surgery. Breast Cancer Support Group - The Medical Center of Plano meets the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Surgery Center of Plano waiting room. Anyone who has breast cancer, is undergoing treatment, or is a breast cancer survivor is invited. For more information, call 214.473.7777.

Cancer Support Community North Texas, formerly Gilda's Club North Texas, provides a non-residential meeting place where individuals who have been newly diagnosed with cancer can gather with family and friends for support. Collin Intervention to Youth (CITY House) provides emergency shelter and transitional residential services for children and young adults who are in need due to abuse, neglect, or homelessness. Connected Hearts, a support group for women living with chronic illness, including conditions such as fibromyalgia, migraines, chronic pain, autoimmune disease, and arthritis, meets Mondays from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. in Plano. This on-going group focuses on topics including the impact of chronic illness on you and your relationships, grief and loss, coping strategies, self-acceptance, body image, communicating your needs, finding hope and meaning, and helping others.
